So I’ve been blogging here, mySpace, and Facebook for awhile now and I’ve found something really awesome….Share This. Basically, it allows me to share any link I found to Facebook or mySpace, which means I can post a link to any posts I make on my blog site. However, it really doesn’t work well with mySpace. In fact, I really don’t like it for mySpace. But it’s awesome for Facebook. I’ve already posted so many different articles and it’s so easy.
Since I’ve found this, I’ve been reassessing my social networks. Originally, the only reason I even signed up for mySpace was to keep in touch with a few friends who used it exclusively and I kinda got sucked in, but not really in a good way. You see, I don’t run any program by Microsoft on my computer. I’m strictly a Linux girl and mySpace doesn’t work well with Linux. Oh, I can still do everything, but the blog post editor doesn’t work (I can only use the basic editor) and I have to upload photos one at a time and that can take awhile and oftentimes crashes Firefox on me.
On Facebook, everything works like it should. I can upload multiple photos at a time, I can share links from all of my blogs (Literary Escapism and Open Source Cook) and I don’t have to retype or copy them into mySpace. Plus, Facebook is just cleaner. I can add a bunch of different apps, but it doesn’t change the general layout or take forever to load.
So I’ve made the decision to junk mySpace. I’ll still keep the site up and active, but I’m not going to add any more posts, pictures, or anything else. I need to start reorganizing my time and trying to keep three different blogging sites is taking up too much time. If you want to stay current with me, then stick around. If you want to find me on Facebook, here I am.

Ian freaked out Jesse and I yesterday. If you have been reading Ian’s site, then you’re aware that we’ve started a new sleep method; if you haven’t been, we’ve started putting Ian to bed using the Ferber Method (which is Cry It Out) to get him to go to sleep. Well, we laid him down about noon yesterday, and he didn’t like that, and he was sleeping by 12:30ish. About 1pm, I sent Jesse in to open the bedroom door so Ian could let us know when he was up. It was a simple thing to do…crack open the door enough so Ian could stick his hand out and open the door. What Jesse wasn’t expecting to find was a locked door. Ian had locked himself in the bedroom and we didn’t even know it could lock. There is nothing on the outside doorknob to indicate that it could even lock, so we had no way of getting into the room. Ian was still sleeping, so we were able to freak out about it on our own. We called Emergency Maintanence and they called us back pretty quickly. They talked with Jesse on the phone, trying to give us different ideas on how to get the door open until the guy could get here. Thankfully, we were able to get the door open, unfortunately, Ian had woken up 3-5 minutes before that. Either way, we got him out and they are suppose to show up this afternoon to change the lock so it doesn’t happen again.
In other things, I was watching the Colbert Report this afternoon and I saw them talking about an article from the BBC. They are talking about how a study found that computer keyboards can actually be dirtier than someone’s toilet.
Out of 33 keyboards swabbed, four were regarded as a potential health hazard and one harboured five times more germs than one of the office’s toilet seats.
Sadly, I can actually believe it too. I know my old keyboards could be quite…interesting.

I’ve been tossing back and forth about whether I actually want to have yet another blog to keep track of (I currently have 3 – mine, Ian’s, and Literary Escapism). I like to cook/bake and I love sharing recipes when I find ones that work. Jesse and I both have a tendency to play around in the kitchen, especially with spices, so when we come across something that works, it’s great.
I know it’s probably a big mistake, but I started up a blog for Open Source Cook. I already had the URL address, so that wasn’t stopping me and it’s just a matter of putting up any recipes here instead of bogging down my own blog. There are times when I’ll get in a zone and do nothing but blog about food or books, so this should help prevent that at myJaxon.
So, the blog is all set up in WordPress and of course I’ve been playing with it all day. I still need to come up with a different picture for the header, but it works for now. If you’re curious, check it out.

Alright people, I have a contest for everyone. I’ve posted this up at Literary Escapism, but I know most of my friends here like to read. Even though we don’t all have the same taste in novels, I had to tell you guys about this contest. Ann Aguirre, author of Grimspace and Wanderlust, has graciously started a huge contest to benefit the victims of Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar.
Here’s the deal. You pick a charity and donate some money. I don’t care how much. Send me an email with a transaction number, showing that you gave to disaster relief (even just a buck), and I’ll enter you in a drawing for . (Note: the prize has gone up. Alessia Brio is adding $50 to the pot.
The relief support for the victims of this horrible natural disaster are in desperate need of donations. There are a bunch of different places you can donate, so it’s pretty much up to you where you want to go. I’ll even make it easy for you. Here is a list of private organizations that are currently working in Myanmar and helping to deal with the after effects of Cyclone Nargis.
Now you don’t have any excuses to make a donation. I’ve linked up each name to their donations site, so all you have to do is spend 2 minutes and click on a link. I’ve already made my donation to CARE (sorry babe, but it’s a worthy cause and they need it more than we do right now), now it’s your turn.
Dear Jackie,
Thank you for your generous donation. Your gift to CARE will

So for those of you who have been checking out my book review blog, I’ve moved it to a new location. It was originally on Blogger, but since I was putting so much work into it, I decided to switch it to a WordPress format since I am far more familiar with that. I finished getting everything transitioned tonight, so I’m calling it on the blogger version. It died at 11:03pm. Blogger has been good to me and it was easy to update, but it wasn’t real easy to manipulate and they had very few templates that didn’t look cartoony. Now I have something that is a bit more stylish. If anyone gets a chance, head on over and check it out. I would love to hear what people think about it.
