A couple of weeks ago, Jesse and I finally got around to watching the Dark Knight and all I can say is wow. This movie was awesome. Although I wanted to see the bat signal burned into the side of the building, but that didn’t happen; but there was plenty of action that did. Christian Bale came back to play Bruce Wayne/Batman and I have to say that I’m liking his portrayal of the man. I also liked Maggie Gyllenhaal‘s portrayal of Rachel Dawes. She took the role over from Katie Holmes and she definitely made it her own.
One thing I did really like that the minds did with the Dark Knight is the idea that someone figured out who Batman was and tried to go public with that knowledge. When Coleman Reese (Joshua Harto) approaches Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman) with his knowledge and Lucius reaction – priceless.
Let me get this straight: You think that your client, one of the wealthiest, most powerful men in the world, is secretly a vigilante who spends his nights beating criminals to a pulp with his bare hands. And your plan is to blackmail this person? Good luck.
He didn’t confirm or deny the fact, but he definitely made a great point.
Now I have to ask this, who else loved Heath Ledger as the Joker? Seriously, he frickin’ rocked! I was never a fan of his, but now that I’ve seen the Dark Knight, I so totally am. He did an amazing job. His Joker was so creepy, yet it was probably the best I’ve seen. I’m a Batman fan – I’ve seen the cartoons and all of the Batman movies to date – and while Jack Nicholson did a good job in Batman (1989), Heath Ledger blew him away. I love how he was able to be psychotic and yet was able to logically rational all of his actions. It was great. Seriously, Heath Ledger completely blew me away. I will probably remember his character in the Dark Knight more than anyone elses.
Overall, loved this movie and I will definitely be adding it to our movie collection. I haven’t felt this compelled to add a Batman movie yet, but this one was spectacular and so worth the time.

I’ve been hearing a lot about Mamma Mia and I finally had the chance to check it out last night. I loved it. Seriously, the songs have been stuck in my head all day. I’m currently listening to the soundtrack right now. The songs are really catchy and it kind of makes me want to jump up and dance along with the cast.
Speaking of which, I have to give kudos to Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan getting into the groove and singing for this movie. Granted, Pierce Brosnan didn’t have the greatest of voices, but he still did it. He didn’t let that scare him off from the role and I thought he was fantastic. Granted, I’ve been a Brosnan fan since Remington Steele, but it still takes some guts to get up there and sing like he did. Plus, I didn’t realize Meryl Streep had such a nice voice. She did not sound all that bad singing. Overall, I thought the entire cast was exceptional with their singing.
I also love the setting. I would love to visit Greece. It looks to be such a gorgeous country and with all of its history, it would be fascinating. The entire scenery was so bright and clean that it was hard not to get captivated by that. The plot itself wasn’t anything spectacular, but it worked with the music so well.
I’ve heard that a lot of people who have seen the play were not impressed with the movie, but honestly, I don’t think it’s fair to compare plays with movies. The production of a play is vastly different than the production of a movie. You can do so much more with a movie than on stage; and at the same time, the talent on stage can be vastly different than in a movie.
Overall, loved the movie. I will have no problem adding this one to our movie collection once I’m able to. Oh and anyone who does watch this, make sure you watch all the way through the credits. There’s a song at the end that is hilarious. I wish I could find it on YouTube.

If you haven’t been living under a rock, then you’ve probably heard of Joss Whedon’s new series, Dollhouse, and it premiered last night on FOX.
The premise of the show is intriguing and the first episode was great. I’m seeing a lot of potential with this show and that’s not surprising with the cast. Whedon is working with Eliza Dushku, who is in the starring lead, and Amy Acker. Plus, supposedly even though I haven’t seen her yet, Summer Glau is going to be making an appearance. All three actresses are really talented.
The show already has me hooked and I can’t wait for next week’s episode. There were so many things that were mentioned that has possible consequences that I can’t wait to see how it all plays out. The investigation into if the Dollhouse actually exists and who is looking for Echo (played by Eliza Dushku) and why? Whedon has dropped enough hints that there are other games going on and I have no idea how they are going to intertwine with each other. Knowing Whedon, it’s going to be fantastic, but we’ll have to see how long FOX keeps him on the air. They thankfully kept Buffy and Angel on the air for 5 seasons apiece, but they pulled the plug way too early on Firefly (IMO), so we’ll have to see what happens. IMDB has 7 episodes listed as being produced, so I’m going to keep my fingers crossed that more will come.

Okay, it’s cheesey I know, but when I heard that 90210 was coming back, I was curious. Thanks to a website my husband won’t let me mention, I was able to find the first episode and take a look. It’s weird, but there are a couple of actors I recognize, mainly Jennie Garth is back on the set and this time she’s a school counselor. It’s kind of odd to watch a reemerging television prime soap drama with one of the original characters who was a teen in the first one and is now an adult. Strange, but I think it will only make it work better. Another actor I recognized was Rob Estes, although I mainly remember him from Silk Stalkings. He’s still cute though. And the last actress is Lori Loughlin, who starred in Full House in the early 90s.
The show itself is more or less just like the original as well as the OC, Dawson’s Creek, and all the other coming of age drama shows that have been popping up over the years. It’ll be interesting to see if this actually takes off like it’s predecessor or if it’ll tank in the first season.

The game comes with a wheel that makes it easier to use the wii remote and even allows Ian to play the game. There are 8 different courses in Grand Prix mode, with four them being new and the other four including courses from Game Boy Advance, Game Cube, NES, and other past Nintendo consoles. All of the favorite characters are back, plus you can even use your own Mii once you get gold in the 150cc race. There is also battle and vs mode where you can team up with other characters or race against them on your own. I like the balloon battle over the coin battle, but both are fun to play with. In true Wii fashion, you can also play Mario Kart online. You can log onto the Nintendo WiFi net (or whatever it’s called) and find other people to race or if you’re friends are online, you can race them. This mode is nice because we can race Jordan and Beth in Grand Rapids without leaving our own apartment in Detroit.
The game has been a lot of fun to play. Ian actually got it for us for Mothers/Fathers day, although he may not realize that. It’s one of the few games Jesse and I can play together without getting mad at each other for running into battle and destroying all of the strategy. Plus Ian loves watching it. He’ll actually bring the game wheel to either one of us and pull us to the TV. He also loves sitting in our laps while we’re racing around the track. He even has his own character. He doesn’t race well, but likes holding the wheel and he knows which button to push to make the car go; he just hasn’t figured out that he needs to constantly push it. The only real trouble with Ian liking this game is he really likes this game and will go right up to the TV to see what is going on. He’s a definite handicap when we’re playing.
The courses are pretty fun, but I absolutely hate Rainbow Road, but I guess that is a staple for the series. I’ve done all the cups in both the 50cc and 150cc, except for the Special Cup because of that blasted course. I’ve even got gold in all the other cups, but I can’t even place for this course. I’ve even been trying to convince Jesse to play just Rainbow Road for me, I would go through the three courses before it, just so I can get past this blasted cup. No such luck yet.
